Julian Alps

The Julian Alps are a mountain range in north-western Slovenia, stretching into neighbouring Italy. They are part of the larger Eastern Alps and are named after Julius Caesar. The mountain range includes several peaks over 2,000 metres, including Mount Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia, which is a popular destination for hikers and climbers.

The Julian Alps are also home to many glacial lakes, including Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. The Julian Alps lie within the Triglav National Park, which was established in 1924 and is Slovenia's oldest national park.
