Camargue Horses

The Camargue is a marshland area in the southern French Rhone delta (Bouches-du-Rhône department). It lies on the Mediterranean Sea and covers the entire Rhone Delta. The area is known for its wild gray-white Camargue horses, black bulls and pink flamingos. It is a flat and very wetland area with many lakes and lagoons, marsh and grassland, dune and forest areas. It is also important for salt extraction, rice cultivation and viticulture.

In 1970, the area obtained the status of a regional nature park.
